| Subject: Installing SodaMaplestory for NOOBS! Mon Aug 10, 2009 5:43 pm | |
| I here, write this guide, not for myself, but for the fellow Maplers out there that want to play SodaMS. But some of them, are still very inexperience, very much like my own little brother, fails to install SodaMaplestory and therefore, cannot play.Edit1: I have added color coding to allow readers to locate the important parts faster. I have also detected a problem that after I downloaded MapleStory.rar, it was different then what I had downloaded when I first started playing, so I will correct that mistake tomorrow as fast as I can.End Edit: 2:29 AM July 31, 2009.Edit 2:Sorry guys, it seems like what I had installed and downloaded before was different than what is up now, so this edit is to add on to what was different. Sorry if you got confused over these last 2 days of wrongness and unfixeness (if they are even words). AND I have also decides to make a guide in PICTURES so you guys would not have to bother to read all these boring text . End Edit: 11:35 PM August 01, 2009.Edit 3: Changed the old website link into the new one. Deleted the old color/bold/italics/etc. codes and changed into new ones for the new forum. The link to the Picture Edition Guide for Internet Explorer is https://sodams.darkbb.com/guides-tutorials-f21/installing-sodamaplestory-for-noobs-picture-edition-internet-explorer-version-t12.htm. I think that is it, I'll see you guys later then.End Edit: 4:20 PM August 10, 2009. The SodaMaplestory website is http://SodaMS.tk/and provides much information about this server.Note:Make sure you have at least about 2-4 GB available on your harddrive. If not, the installation might not be successful. To check how much space available on your harddrive, Open Computer There should be the harddrive and devices that are in our connected to your computer. Sometimes, the harddrive or Hard Disk Drives (that what it says on mine) already has a picture with a bar showing how much space is left. If not, right click your HardDrive and click Properties which should be at the bottom, and a window should pop-up showing how much available space is left on your harddrive.Downloading:1)Go to the download site under the [ Download] Tab on the website. Which is http://dhms.no-ip.info/?cype=main&page=download2)The download buttons/links are extremely big and neon green for easy identification. I would first download the Game Client, because it is much faster to download. I would save it somewhere easy to access like on your desktop.3)To save on your desktop: (You can save it somewhere else, it\'s optional, but make sure you can locate it)Click this to go to the download site for the Game Client.http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zm0z3fwztiv- a)
When you click download, a [Save As] window will pop up asking where you would like to save it. On the left hand side of that window, should be a easy to access list of folders. There should be a Desktop folder. Click it and and Click [Save] to save it. You could rename it if you want to but its optional. They original name of the file should be [SodaMS Files.rar]
- b)
If you clicked the download link, and it doesn\'t ask you where to save it [Save As] as in no windows popping out, you would have to Right Click the link and click [Save Link As] and the same window should pop up. After that, just follow the same instructions as says up there. 4)To download and install Maplestory v62, which is currently what the server is running on, read the following.[This might be old, because we are planning to have a RePack to v72 or v73 I\'m not sure which one or when, but I will write another guide] Click this to go to the Download site for the game installer.http://www.filefront.com/Maplestory+v62/;13920728;/fileinfo.htmlClick the [ Download Now Button/Link] http://www.filefront.com/thankyou.php?f=13920728&k=895a48e3c122950ca6dd16fd5c3ccdf864265f19666d157a55267813e188d59ato download, and there, the download should begin by asking you if you want to save it. Click [ yes] and it asks you where to save it. Like the game client, it would also be better to save the installer onto the desktop for easier access. If a window doesn\'t pop up after going to the download site, one of your programs or pop-up blockers must\'ve blocked it or you d/ced. It would usually notify you when it blocks something. So just disable it when that happens and try again.
This download should take a lot longer than the Game Client because of its humongous size. More than 1GB I believe, or a about.
While the download is going, you should go [register a account on the SodaMaplestory website so you can log in and make a character after you finish installing. You can also register a account on this forum so you can comment back on how I did after finish reading this. 5)After the downloads finish with both of the files you would notice that both of the files are [.rar] files and it may look like you\'ve never seen before and you might be like WTF. Calm down. It is basically like a zippy bag that packs all the files in there tightly to save some space. You want to extract that. If you don\'t already have a extracting program, you can download WinRAR at http://filehippo.com/download_winrar/download/95e38904eca3b8f19aee0b46f08ead8c/ and install it. To extract the files, [ Right Click] the file and click [ extract to {FILE NAME}\\] and it should extract into another file that will be created immediately after clicking it. Inside the MapleStory file should be a the whole game already pre-installed [ EditV2] and there is no need for you to install it via installer [ .exe] . Inside, there are many different game clients for different private servers such as [ AncientMSv62, AxedMSv62, DarkerMS, DemonMS, FallenStoryRev5, Maple-Heads, Maplestory(original client), OblivionMS, and SunkenMS]. Don\'t click any of those because all you want to play is SODAMS!!! RIGHT??? Okay. You may delete those for your own satisfaction. 6) [EditV2] Please Skip this step, I am very sorry. Go into the Maplestory File by going into the harddrive. Computer > HardDrive or C: (Drive) > Nexon > SodaMaplestory and you should be in the file.7)Go into the SodaMS Files that is still where you extracted it, if you did it on our desktop, then its only desktop. Locate and click to go into it. Located inside should be a [ SodaMS.exe] and a [ READ THIS BEFORE READING DOING ANYTHING.txt] . Don\'t click that [.txt] because the instructions in there are wrong.Copy/Cut the [ SodaMS.exe] by right clicking it and clicking Copy/Cut or clicking the file and pressing the buttons Ctrl+C or Ctrl+X.9)Return to the SodaMaplestory file where the game was installed. Paste the [ SodaMS.exe] into the file by right clicking in the SodaMaplestory file and clicking Paste or clicking in the window and pressing the buttons Ctrl+V to paste it in.Note:Do not Paste it in the Nexon file! You will get a error message saying: - Code:
-
\"This application has failed to start because wzmss.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.\" This is easy to fix, just follow step 9 again. And if you can\'t find the [ SodaMS.exe] in the file anymore, just redo step 5.10)It should work now. Since you are already in the SodaMaplestory file already, locate the [ SodaMS.exe] and double click for it to launch. If it asks for permission just click yes, and the game should be started.11)Enter your registered account that you created at http://SodaMS.tk/ and the password you created along with it, and you should be in Happy MaplingP.S. My Brother, whose current IGN is KidoKun, is recruiting for a guild called :)Noob. He is a noob himself, so if you want to join, contact him.
